Bikes, Boards, Bands and Brunch at Deus Ex Machina

Deus (“day-us”) didn’t set out only to sell custom parts and hand- built motorcycles, but to celebrate a culture of creativity.located in the heart of canggu  with flagships also in Byron Bay, Sydney, Los Angeles and Milan, Deus has created a cult brand in the heart of the rice paddy fields and surf breaks of Bali. Come here to browse for boards and serious bikes, and stay for brunch and coffee in the the ‘Temple of Enthusiam’. Sunday nights is where it’s at, where Deus transforms into a party hosting live bands to a fun loving crowd.

3Canggu restaurant and bar Deus Ex Machina is something quite unique in Bali. Occupying a massive piece of land down on the Echo Beach turnoff, this iconic structure feels a bit like the heart and soul of Echo Beach in Canggu, an institution, Primarily a restaurant bar, it also includes a funky shop that sells branded clothes, surf gear including boards, plus Deux Ex Machina motor bikes!! There are many areas to sit and eat and/or drink, inside the open sided veranda areas or outside in the garden, so you can have the private or public experience here. There is a mid size pool table out on the verandah where you can stretch a little after dinner before partying.

21Bali Deus Ex Machina in Canggu was busy the night we were there, full of the 25-35 demographic, all having fun while enjoying music that spanned contemporary chillout tunes to covers of older stuff. Certainly Canggu restaurant and bar Deux Ex Machina is one of the most popular Canggu and Echo Beach Bali Restaurants and bars. Don’t forget to try the coffee, which is hailed as one of the best in Bali, and the signature drink  the Dirty Bintang (Bintang beer over ice with a dash of sambal and squirt of fresh lime in a salt-rimmed glass). You can enjoy a lazy afternoon in the cool outdoors, with an expansive view of the paddyfields ahead. If you are a major bike enthusiast, go ahead and check out the workshops at the back.
